Powell Street Market

Yesterday, I set up a booth next to a few other Etsy Team Columbus members in Powell, Ohio:

We were set up in the sun with no tent! It was so hot... we eventually moved to under a tree.
Here's my little table and set-up: It's way better than my set-up at my first show!
These are my promotional pins from PromosInASnap. I gave a lot of these away yesterday!

MollyStuff Google Group

Ok... so this is my round-about way of getting email updates to people. First, readers will join my Google Group (the subscription box is to the right), then my blog will be sending my posts to this Google Group. The group will send emails to the members when/how they say they want to be contacted. Sounds cool to me... we'll see!

Sounds kind of complicated but this is just another way for me to stay in contact with people! ^_^

Lucky Charms **for sale!**

I have two pairs of horseshoe earrings for sale and two horseshoe pendants for sale in my Etsy store, MollyStuff. Everything is handcrafted sterling silver (sold seperately).

Rhythm

I think I've found a rhythm! I work on the designing of jewelry on Monday mornings and go to class in the afternoons. Then on Thursdays I can make what I designed on Monday. I think that as long as I keep doing this, I'll be able to get a nice little selection for my Etsy store.

Ordered Tools!

The picture above is from www.micromark.com

I ordered a jeweler's saw frame, saw blades, a "handy hole punch", and a clamp and bench pin set. It's not much but I figure I'll start out with what I know I'll need. I will also need to buy some metal but I didn't want to order it today. I can't wait to start making jewelry again! Yay!

Craft Inc.

Chapter 2:
Is about the business side of this whole "turning my creative hobby into a business" process. I took a basic entrepreneurship class in college, but now it's a little more real and a lot more scary. All of the legal, insurance, tax, record-keeping stuff is overwhelming when it's listed out all at once.

I'm starting to get a little nervous but this is good! I just have to keep reminding myself that I can do the business thing. I'm a hard worker and I can make and keep plans.

Right now my plan of action is (Thanks, Craft Inc.!):
Write up rough rough rough draft of business plan.
-this will include a time line
-mission statement / company description
-location of business
-company id (start with a brainstorm)
-target market
-market research (big project in itself... will start with a placeholder and hypotheses)
-line of products and how often they will be released (the fun part!)
-equipment required (seems like basic research)
-production (me)
-selling plans (Etsy at first, then my own website, then a physical store!)
-marketing plan (online, most likely)
-budget and financial plan (this'll be interesting, may need Jacob's help here)
-projections and exit plan
